        How to use the generator

        1. Upload your key art: ideally 3840×2160 or larger, with no text on it.
        2. Upload your logo as a transparent PNG. Without it, capsules are created without the game name, which Steam requires.
        3. Optional: upload a square icon. Otherwise the icon is cropped from your art.
        4. Choose the crop focus. "Smart" finds the most interesting area; pick a side if your hero is off-centre.
        5. Place the logo (center, top or bottom), set its size and keep darkening on for readability.
        6. Generate, review every image in the gallery and download the ZIP.

        Steam's rules for capsule art

Under Valve's graphical asset rules, capsules may only contain game artwork, the game name and an official subtitle. Review scores, award logos, discount text and promotion of other games are not allowed. For temporary messages like a major update, use Steam's Artwork Overrides instead.

Tips for capsules that get clicks

        • The small capsule is what most players see in lists. Your logo must be readable at that size, so make it big.
        • Keep key characters away from the edges: every size crops differently.
        • Use high contrast between the logo and the background. The darkening option helps.
        • Make the genre obvious at a glance.

        FAQ

What image sizes does Steam need?

Store: header capsule 920x430, small capsule 462x174, main capsule 1232x706, vertical capsule 748x896, optional page background 1438x810. Library: capsule 600x900, header 920x430, hero 3840x1240 and a logo up to 1280x720. Events: cover 800x450 and header 1920x622. Icons: 184x184 and 256x256. Plus at least 5 screenshots at 1920x1080.

Does the capsule art need my game logo?

Yes. Steam requires the game name or logo to be clearly readable on store and library capsules. The library hero is the exception: it must not contain any text or logo.

What size should my key art be?

At least 3840 x 2160 (4K). The library hero is 3840 pixels wide, so smaller art will be upscaled and look soft.

Can I upload the results straight to Steamworks?

They have the right sizes and formats, but always review them first. Automatic cropping can cut off important parts of your art, and Steam reviews every image.
